P - 2/3 Breakfast

Wow what a day!!!! The students arrived in their pyjamas, no doubt straight from bed. But we looked fabulous in our Hannah Montana, Wrestling, Spiderman and many more pj's....

Breakfast was a huge hit with some students so excited they woke up their parents at 4.30am! Breakfast started with some juice, then following our theme on healthy bodies, healthy breakfast served shortly after.

It was a great way to finish off the last day of term one. We all had a ball, breakfast was yummy then the rain, thunder and lightning hit.

Harmony Day

Friday was Harmony Day and this day is extremely important as we celebrate everyone's culture. This was exciting day as many students dressed in cultural dress from their background. With only 120 students at the school there were nearly thirty different cultures recognised. 2/3C was represented by Australia, Ireland, England, Greece, Italy and Macedonia. Such a diverse group!

We did activities on Friday that included Mexican Hat Dancing, Origami, Flag making and design and making a mural to celebrate where we are all from.

Photos will come soon.

Week 7 has come and gone

Well our good fortune continues with Chelsea also winning a principals award these week for demonstrating excellent behaviours in the yard. Joel also picked up this weeks award for demonstrating the value of Respect.

Another week has flown on by (particularly only being 4 days). The highlights from this week were the huge and long Friday Walk. We were pretty tired by the end of it! Maths was all about Money Money Money and we had so much fun making our own lunch orders.

Just a quick post for today.

Week 6 and another week gone...

Wow the students in 2/3C are really catching the eye of the principal. At assembly we were awarded with our fourth student principals award, this time going to Gabriella for displaying outstanding values in the yard. Katie won this weeks award for demonstrating the value of Excellence by regularly picking up papers in the yard without being asked!

Maths this week has been all about collecting data and making bar graphs. We have also been trying to write statements about what we have learnt from our data. We have collected data on our favourite foods, families and we finished off the week by finding out our favourite footy teams. Of course Collingwood was most popular.

Unfortunately the varying weather had a huge impact on a week, from heat to constant rain (which we love) but we had some fantastic sessions using the "Gobbiliser" to find out what nutrients are in foods that are good for us. In the gobbiliser we were able to put in all the food we ate in a day and it gave us a graph of our recommended daily intakes. Cam and Rose then set a challenge for us to eat only healthy food for the day and compare the differences.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Clean Up Australia Day

We were supposed to have clean up Australia day on Friday of last week but due to the extremely hot weather (for all you overseas readers we have had bush fires for weeks and the temp was nearing 40 degrees) we had to post pone our clean up to Monday. We gathered after our assembly in our houses, Lyndarum, Dunolly and Mansfield and we each cleaned outside of the school. We are fortunate that most of us take our rubbish home so the school is relatively litter free. Most of the rubbish we picked up has wondered in from the building sites. Anyway we all did a fantastic job and we will chase down photo's soon.

Week 5 - Rainbow Wraps!

On Monday we made Rainbow Wraps. Rose & Cam had prepared heaps of fresh vegetables for our Wraps. Rainbow Wraps are healthy wraps which have every colour of the the rainbow. We had a choice of what we wanted to put in our wraps with choices from lettuce, tomato, beetroot, carrot, cheese and hommus. We each made our own wrap and they were delicious!! Check out the photos of us eating our wraps.

During the week we did lots of relays in fitness and Cam taught us how to crab walk. While this was hard it was really funny. The year 3's had Athletic trials this week for interschool sport. On Friday Chelsea and Ciara went off to represent the school in Bat Tennis and both played extremely well.

Life in 2/3C is definitely coasting along now with Reading and Maths kicking in. During the week we read Graeme Base's book "Enigma" which we we loved. At the end of the book there is a code that you need to crack. As a class we worked out how to open the code breaker. We then used the code breaker to start cracking the code. So far we have found out that "There are nine magic paw prints...."

Congratulations to Ana Victoria who this week won the award for displaying the value of Honesty and double congratulations for also being awarded a principals award for displaying the value of Honesty also. Well done!

Well thats it for another week.

Week 4

Wow what a week at Epping Views PS! Time flies when your having fun. This week we had visitors from four schools in the Kinglake area and it was great to see the interaction between the students from the five schools.

On Monday we made pancakes!! We made them with Rose's grade and we cheated cause we used the Pancake Parlour mix but we don't care cause they were yummy!!! For fitness this week we did aerobics and it was hard work. We had to do sit ups, push ups, bridges and heaps of running. It was hard work but we enjoyed it. Unfortunately we had some rain so we were able to do our Friday walk. We were invited by the Kinglake students to participate in Go For Your Life Activities. This was the second time in a week we did GFYL, this time we did different games and they were really fun! Great way to end the week.

Congratulations to Gabriella who won the Values Award this week for Honesty.
Also in the first week congrats to Hayden who won a Principals Award for being nominated and short listed for the City of Whittlesea sports awards.

This is a snippet from Week 4 stay tuned to find out in much more detail about what we did in week 5....
